Tennis Solutions matchplays are potentially open events for all ratings and ages. All matches are played on indoor carpet
Matchplay start times are typically between 9.30am and 5.30pm but you will be informed of your start time. Entry can be made by phone on 07710 402715 or text or by e-mail at dbudd1023@aol.com.
Remember that tennis matches are not timed events, so whilst every attempt is made to finish as early as possible boxes of three will result in extended times between matches for two of the three players. Entry into these matchplays means that in some circumstance you could be in the club for 5 hours or more.
Unless you ask otherwise you will be scheduled TWO MATCHES AGAINST A PLAYER OF THE SAME RATING (but not necessarily the same age), although if you wish we may be able to accommodate one match only. With the exception of Division 10 and 9.2 players most matches will consist of two sets (tiebreak at 6-6). Should the score reach one set all, a MATCH TIEBREAK (i.e. first player to win 10 points with a margin of 2 points) shall be played to decide the match. This format counts as a three set match for LTA ratings purposes. Division 10 and 9.2's will play 2 short sets followed by a match tie break if necessary.
Details of the draws are not given in advance. The main purpose of this is to preserve the composition of the matchplay in the event of players withdrawing at short notice.
Entry fee is generally £16 and payable on the day by cash or by cheque made out to Bristol Box League. Where one match only is played the entry fee is halved. Where brothers or sisters play on the same day the entry fee for both is £15 each. If we have high numbers of a particular rating we may ask you if you would like to extend the matchplay over the entire weekend so that you can play four matches against players of the same rating. The entry fee for this is £30.
Start times are generally announced by e-mail (unless you specify otherwise) on the Tuesday evening before the event. So please ensure that you have access to that e-mail facility and that you reply to our e-mail so that we know you have received it. Things can go astray so if you have entered but you haven't had a call or an e-mail about your start time by the Wednesday immediately before the matchplay date then don’t just assume matches have been arranged, please ring on 07710 402715.
If a player withdraws once the draw has been made and start time given then the entry fee is still required. In that event you should send a cheque, within 3 days of the event entered made payable to Bristol Box League and sent to Donna Budd, 13 Charnwood Road , Whitchurch, Bristol, BS14 0JU. You should write your cheque card number on the reverse of the cheque. Failure to do so will mean that we will not be able to accept you into future events.
We generally feel we have a good relationship with our players and parents with whom we frequently have repeat business. To preserve that relationship we expect withdrawals after the draw has been made to be restricted in the main to those relating to injury. Please be aware that all players results can be tracked using the LTA website – entry into another event is not an acceptable reason for a withdrawal and can result in the player being penalised by the LTA through simulated loses.
Whilst we would ask you not to consume your own refreshments on the premises there is a wide selection available for purchase at the club.
